Kelechi Anyadiegwu

By Gina Hanna

Another woman who combined her love for fashion with her interest in technology is Kelechi Anyadiegwu, an entrepreneur who started African clothing Store Zuvaa (meaning sunshine). Anyadiegwu’s brand was decided upon after she received a compliment on of her outfits. She saw an opportunity to channel her social media marketing skills to shine a light on African-inspired fashion designers. She traces the success of her brand to a community of artisans and consumers who care about the origins of their garments. Zuvaa started with a 500 capital and has expanded to an estimated 2 million dollar business in 2016. Anyadiegwu, who prefers the flexibility of running business to the constraints of a 9 to 5, advises young entrepreneurs to trust their vision, adding that “No one is going to be able to see this vision, that's what makes it so special, that what will set you apart from others, that's what will make get every morning exciting to work and build your company.”
